On the afternoon of April 18th, as one of the series activities of Shanghai Cultural Experience Week, the intangible cultural heritage handicraft experience arrived at the Banhu Pavilion of COsco Library as scheduled. Yan Huaiping, senior craftsman of Xu Hang Straw Weaving Cultural Creation Hall, was invited by the Youth League Committee of the college to teach straw weaving skills for teachers and students participating in the activity.
As a national intangible cultural heritage of Shanghai school, Xu Hang straw weaving was born in the distant Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and has been going to the present day, integrating the strong local customs, the flowing life atmosphere and the soft poetry and painting. In the use of raw materials, shape design, color application, pay attention to the integration with The Times, combined with life, constantly innovate, in the tradition of fashion, the pursuit of originality in details, everywhere highlighting the characteristics of Shanghai culture, Yan Huaiping is proud to introduce the artistic characteristics and historical heritage of straw to teachers and students. The straw-woven works with ingenious conception and fine workmanship won the praise of teachers and students.
Xu Hang grass weaving techniques delicate, a wide variety, practical design, under the guidance of Yan teacher, on-site teachers and students experience coaster weaving. The straw-made coaster looks simple, but it's difficult to make yourself. It's a completely different experience, said a female teacher as she braiding coasters. Students who choose to weave refrigerator magnets also play their own painting skills after the completion of weaving, and decorate the hand-woven refrigerator magnets, which is quite interesting.
This intangible cultural heritage manual experience activity also received strong support from the College Women's Working Committee. The participation of teachers eliminates the sense of distance of students, and teachers and students enjoy the exquisite craft of Shanghai school and experience the rich pattern of Shanghai school culture in a happy and harmonious atmosphere.
